A Radical Nipple
Participatory Photography Project , 2018~
Podcast, 2024~
"A Radical Nipple" is a one-on-one participatory photography project initiated by Pin-Wen as an extension of the “Girl’s Notes” concept, with an open call for volunteers. Regardless of their gender, Pin-Wen photographed only one nipple, not breasts, and launched dialogues during the photographing process. Through “A Radical Nipple,” Pin-Wen gained a deeper understanding of how (mostly) Taiwanese people perceive their bodies and genders. In 2020, he revived "A Radical Nipple" as an independent photography work, separate from "Girl’s Notes."
"A Radical Nipple" explores the power dynamics in traditional photography and proposes an approach that diverges from the conventional male gaze. It emphasizes the process of informed consent between the photographer and the participants, fostering discussions that intersect personal experiences and body concepts.
In 2024, Pin-Wen aims to take a further step by presenting the project in a non-visual format. The "A Radical Nipple" Podcast will become another window for the "audience" to hear and get closer to the work, experiencing the feminism art vibe that he creates.
