Workshop

Forbidden, Moved! 禁歌熱舞
2025 SummerWorks, Toronto

“With a feminist curiosity: How is freedom socially constructed?”

This dynamic workshop designed for movement-based practitioners, invites Taiwanese pop songs that were banned during Martial Law into an embodied creative process, examining and exploring the intersectional relationship between will, survival, gender and the body — reflecting on how Martial Law has shaped generational understandings of how bodies live, adapt, and endure.

Co-presented with adelheid and Dreamwalker Dance Company.

Camping workshop 2025
Lyon, France

In this five-day workshop we will embody and explore the following themes:

Skin Research: Tactility, skin and sensory touch - a live dialogue between bodies exploring non-visual, body-centred methods in response to feminist critiques of the ‘gaze’.

Cultural Appropriation: Who decides what is cultural appropriation? How do we become aware of cultural boundaries and moments of appropriation?

Objects: Objects in choreography and gender politics – how do they shift our perspectives and challenge our perceptions of the body?

Body politics and the political body: Second wave feminism emphasised: “The personal is political”. How can embodied performance reflect my political reality?

Feminism(s): How do I/we approach feminist embodiment?
We hope that each day’s experience will provoke thoughtful intersections of these themes.

Skin and Skin
2025 Morrow in Vancouver

Tactility, Skin, and Sensory Touch. In this workshop, I will share my practice that began with tactility in 2013, expanding into the study of skin experiences, with one of the key focusing on tactility and touch as artistic practice. This workshop invites a live dialogue between skin and skin, exploring non-visual, body-centered methods, while responding to feminism’s critique of the 'gaze.' We will reconsider alternative ways in which the artist can serve social significance beyond the typical role of being a medium for dance or performance — healing.
